Meet the Beekeeper and Maker
Hi! I am Shelly. A middle school science teacher, beekeeper and maker of fun things. I am native to Ohio but my journeys in life brought me to Brighton, Colorado 18 years ago and I have made it my home.
I love teaching Biology to my middle schoolers and love seeing them get excited about the lessons we have. Middle schoolers may be a little crazy but they keep me young and energized.
I started raising bees about 7 years ago with one hive in my backyard. It was such a fun learning experience. Fast forward to 30 hives living on a 500 acre alfalfa farm and now there is no turning back. I love my bees so much. They help me as much as I help them. I have learned so much over the past 7 years and really enjoy sharing my knowledge with other people.
In my free time I spend my days with my dogs, cat and chickens. While Copper, who is the namesake for my business, has passed on, I have 5 wonderful pups that I love taking to the dog park and hiking in the mountains.
I started making my other products during the winter months when the bees are all bundled up and trying to survive winter. I love learning new processes to make items that are fun to have in the home.
I hope you enjoy everything I make as well as the honey my bees work so hard to make!!
